Frequently Asked Questions

Which scan mode should I use?

Close-Up for modern cards (roughly 8th Edition, 2003, onward) that print a collector number and set code at the bottom-left. Full Card is for older cards that don't print a set code at all. It reads the card's name, then lists its printings with the closest visual match first so you can pick the exact one.

A scan found the wrong card, or nothing at all. What helps?

Fill the guide box with the collector number and set code, in good light, and tap the screen to focus before taking the photo. If your camera struggles up close, hold the card a little farther back and zoom in. When a card has promo versions (Prerelease, Promo Pack and so on), pick the one you're holding on the result screen. If a scan still can't read the card, you can type the set code and number, or the card's name.

Is CardSnap MTG available on Android?

Yes. Get CardSnap MTG on Google Play for Android phones and tablets.

What's included in the free plan?

10 scans per day, up to 100 cards in your collection, up to 10 cards on your wish list, one Commander deck, and 25 rows per import or export. Print proxies are free for everyone. Price alerts cover your wish list and the 25 cards your Collection screen shows. Premium removes every limit.

Is Premium shared between iPhone and Android?

No. Premium is bought through Apple on iPhone and iPad, and through Google Play on Android, and each store's subscription only works on its own platform. Your collection can move between them with a Moxfield or Archidekt export and import.

Can I import my existing collection?

Yes, from Moxfield or Archidekt. Choose your site in Settings → Collection Site, then use Import/Export to bring in your CSV export. After that, export just your new scans whenever you're ready to sync; CardSnap remembers what's already been sent.

How do I get my collection into Archidekt?

Archidekt asks you to match up the CSV's columns when you import. CardSnap has step-by-step instructions in the app: Import/Export → How to Import into Archidekt. Archidekt has no proxy field, so proxies are left out of Archidekt exports.

How do price alerts work?

Turn on Settings → Price Alerts → Track Prices, then choose whether to track your whole collection or only cards you pick, and how big a move is worth an alert. CardSnap checks prices about once a day (when you open the app and in the background) and notifies you when a card moves past your threshold or a wish-list card reaches your target price. Changes are listed under Price Changes on the Home screen, and Check Prices Now runs a check straight away.

Does CardSnap sell cards?

No. Buy sends your list to TCGplayer, Mana Pool, Card Kingdom, or CoolStuffInc, filled in where the store supports it, and you check out on the store's own site. The estimated cost shown for each store comes from Scryfall and the stores' public price lists. CardSnap isn't affiliated with any store and takes no commission.

Does CardSnap MTG store my data anywhere?

Your collection and wish list stay on your device, and there's no account. You can back them up to your own iCloud on iPhone and iPad, or your phone's Google backup on Android. Card lookups go to Scryfall, and store prices come from the stores' public price lists. Neither includes any personal information. See our Privacy Policy for details.

How do I cancel my subscription?

On iPhone or iPad, go to Settings → your name → Subscriptions; billing is handled by Apple. On Android, open the Play Store → your profile → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions, or tap Manage Subscription in CardSnap's Account Status; billing is handled by Google Play. Refunds are handled by Apple or Google. We can't process payments directly.
