Privacy Policy

CardSnap MTG ("the App") is developed with your privacy in mind. This policy explains what information the App handles and how, on iPhone and iPad (iOS) and on Android. The App has no accounts, and we don't run any servers that receive your data.

Camera & Photos

The App uses your device's camera to scan Magic: The Gathering cards. Photos are processed on your device (with Apple's Vision framework on iOS, and Google's ML Kit text recognition on Android) and are never uploaded to us or stored on any server we operate. Photos aren't saved to your photo library.

Card Data, Images & Prices

To identify a card, the App sends the recognized text (such as a set code and collector number, or a card name) to Scryfall's public API (scryfall.com), and loads card images and market prices from Scryfall. For store price estimates, the App downloads Card Kingdom's and Mana Pool's public price lists. To show and add preconstructed decks, the App downloads deck lists from MTGJSON (mtgjson.com). None of these requests include personal information; like any website, these services can see your device's IP address and the request itself.

Your Collection & Wish List

Your collection, wish list, and price-tracking history are stored locally on your device. We do not have access to them, and they are not transmitted to any server we operate.

Backups

On iOS, you can back up your collection and wish list to your own iCloud Drive. On Android, they're included in your device's Google backup (if you have it turned on), and you can save a backup file wherever you choose. These backups are stored by Apple or Google under your own account; we can't access them.

Moxfield & Archidekt Import/Export

CSV files you import or export are handled locally through your device's standard file picker and share sheet. We do not receive a copy of them.

Price Alerts & Notifications

If you turn on price alerts, the App re-checks prices with Scryfall about once a day (when you open it, and in the background as your device allows) and shows notifications created on your device. No push-notification service or server of ours is involved.

Life Tracker

When you host or join a Life Tracker game, the devices at the table connect directly to each other over your local Wi-Fi network to share player names, life totals, counters, and commanders. None of it goes over the internet or to any server of ours. The camera is used only to scan a game's join QR code, and that image isn't saved. Each device downloads commander art from Scryfall itself.

Buying From Stores

When you choose a store from the Buy screen, the App opens that store's website (TCGplayer, Mana Pool, Card Kingdom, or CoolStuffInc) in your browser with your card list, and copies the list to your clipboard. Anything you do on a store's site is covered by that store's own privacy policy.

Subscriptions

Premium subscriptions are billed by Apple (on iOS) or Google Play (on Android). We never receive your payment information. The App only learns from Apple or Google whether your subscription is active.

Diagnostics on Android

Google's ML Kit, which reads card text on Android, sends Google limited diagnostic information: device details (manufacturer, model, OS version), the App's package name and version, per-installation identifiers that Google says aren't intended to identify a user or device, and performance and error data. Google uses it for diagnostics and usage analytics, encrypts it in transit, and does not share it with third parties. It doesn't include your photos, the text read from them, or your collection. See Google's ML Kit data disclosure. Google Play services, which handle subscriptions and rating requests on Android, are covered by Google's Privacy Policy.

Data We Do Not Collect

We don't collect personal information. The App does not require an account, does not use our own analytics or any advertising SDKs, and does not track you across other apps or websites.

Children's Privacy

The App is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect personal information from them.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with a new "Last updated" date.
